this is hard. there really is no specific song that reminds me of anywhere.
ugh. lemme go search my iTunes.
(15 min later)
i dunno if there was some other musical invasion between the Latin music invasion & the white women with some kinda soul or pop aspect while i was in college, but the latter was when i discovered ms. allen. during my sophomore year of college, i got a job at the school's day care & that was also the semester i started traveling on public transit more often. anyway, every other wednesday (aka payday), after work i'd hop on the halsted bus to transfer to the 60 to transfer to whatever bus was going north on michigan ave* to drop me off at Virgin Records on Ohio. this was one of the first albums i bought. wait. actually, it was the 2nd album i bought from Virgin Records, the first being k-os' Atlantis: Hymns for Disco. this album (along with all the other albums i bought from that establishment) will always remind me of the joys i had at Virgin & always reaffirm my love of CD shopping. i don't care if i end up being the last person in the world that buys CDs. as long as they're still being made, i'll still cop 'em.
*i learned early on that any bus could that traveled northbound on michigan would take me there, really.
