aMAYzing, parte dos.

SO.
that Monday, went back to work. business as usual lol.
later that week, we went to shelena's graduation jammy jam. after the party, tanya, josh (her awesome boyfriend) & i went to see Ironman 2. i had some likka in my system so i kinda kept dozing off, but the movies wasn't that great anyways. lots of BOOMS & BANGS & EXPLOSIONS. *drunk in the movies shrug*

that saturday, thanks to the lovely Udodi, i was able to go see The Dirty Projectors as well as NaS & Damien Marley at UofC's annual SummerBreeze Festival. i was initially just going for NaS & Damien because their album was coming out that following tuesday, but i was pleasantly surprised at how much i LOVED The Dirty Projectors. they were something i'd never heard before, and i loved it. i was only familiar with one of their songs, Stillness Is The Move, and that was only because Solange did an amazing cover of it. but they performed basically all of their Bitte Orca album & i loved all of it. the sucky thing about SummerBreeze is that they prohibit cameras. (2 years ago i damn near got ran over by some student security cuz i was recording The Cool Kids with my camera. i had no idea it was against their policy lol.)
NaS & Damien KILLED IT. there's no other way of saying it. it was particularly dope for 2 reasons: UofC was the first stop on their tour, and it was also the first time they'd performed any of the songs since the album was done. so we got first dibbs. HIYO!
if there was one complaint about their set, and i can't believe i'm saying this, is that it was actually too long. they performed their WHOLE album & they each had individual sets in-between the songs they did with each other, and then did a 3 song encore. so they were on stage for about 2 hours. it wasn't hot that day; it was actually like 70-something & the temp dropped dramatically. i couldn't feel my feet by the end of the night. i knew they were frozen & they also hurt & prolly wrinkled & shriveled up cuz of the cold. but all in all, i had a good night. love Udodi. she holds me down.
someone was stealthy enough to get some footage of NaS & Damien doing "Could You Be Loved." salute!

it was a great night. nice saturday. oh, and NaS kept callin' the place "Chicago University." shoutout to no one correcting him backstage LOL.

the next edition of aMAYzing will include me meeting Phonte Coleman & Thomas Jones, as well as a recounting of a pretty epic house party. well...what i can remember.

holla!
